Alexander Hoogsteyn obtained his MSc from KU Leuven in Power System Engineering. Then he completed a traineeship at the EU Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators, after which he returned to KU Leuven to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Energy System Integration and Modelling research group. Here he investigates the role of hydrogen in industrial decarbonisation and the impact hydrogen policies have on energy markets. He is also affiliated with Energyville. He has a particular interest in carbon markets, hydrogen and energy system optimization.
